Hannah Flack on Cece Cole’s Installation in the Sunroom Project Space

Cece Cole’s installation Knots and Conceits just opened in the Sunroom yesterday. It’s filled with all of these weird, futile experiments, sort of like the remainders of a mad scientist’s abandoned laboratory. Every time I go into the space I find another fun little corner to explore, and I’m always surprised by how she’s transformed all of these beat-up, recycled materials into such a colorful, imaginative workshop.

A great way to further explore the piece is by visiting the blog she made specifically for the installation: http://rainbowstacy.blogspot.com/. It’s full of photographs and videos she took in and around Wave Hill to prepare for the installation. The blog is a glimpse into her thought-process, something I’m always interested in, but which I can rarely uncover outside of studio visits.

Hannah Flack is Wave Hill’s current Curatorial Fellow. Her year-long tenure here includes assisting with the selection of this year’s Sunroom Project Space artists.
