Cool Herbal Drinks

Laurel Rimmer, Assistant Director of Public Programs, shares recipes from herbal drinks served during Welcome Home Weekend in early July.

With the temperatures in the mid 90’s, these refreshing herbal drinks were a huge hit with visitors at Welcome Home Weekend, July 6 and 7. They come to us courtesy of Wave Hill exclusive caterer Great Performances.  Each of these recipes makes a gallon of refreshing lemonade and limeade. Next time you visit Wave Hill, be sure to schedule a stroll through the Herb Garden, and enjoy the varieties of basil thriving there. Pictured here is American Mountain Mint, with a delicate visitor perched on one leaf.

  • 1 quart lemon juice, freshly squeezed

Bring three quarts of water, the sugar and basil to boil. Refrigerate until cool. Strain the basil from the water and add berry puree and lemon juice. Serve over ice.

Hibiscus Limeade
