Jenah Barry, Retail Manager of The Shop at Wave Hill, brings to the position the sensibilities of artist and floral designer.
Mother’s Day is one of my favorite celebrations. This time of year, when the gardens spring to life with gracious beauty, seems so perfect for giving thanks for the support, love, gentleness, nurturing and strength of our mothers. As our gift to wonderful mothers everywhere, your purchase over $100 on Mother’s Day weekend—Saturday and Sunday—earns your mom a pampering gift!
If you are looking for something special for Mom, Frances Palmer’s gorgeous, collectible ceramics are truly works of art. Palmer is a passionate gardener and ceramic artist and I love the joy that infuses her designs.
We pride ourselves on beautiful bath and body products, and a luxurious find for Mom is a heady floral fragrance by fragrance designer Montgomery Taylor. His “Ambra di Venezia” is an artisanal scent inspired by the glowing reflections of Venetian sunsets on the ancient city’s palaces and waterways. Taylor studied glassblowing in Murano and wanted to capture not only the experience of Venice in the fragrance, but also create a beautiful, hand-blown bottle to be the perfume’s premier flaçon.
Only found in small boutiques, the perfume is a rare find—fresh and promising as a holiday in Venice. Wave Hill offers it in an eau de parfum spray, a perfume and a luxurious body cream. The fragrance blend is complex but light and a caress to the senses: French narcissus, jasmine, orange, lime, mango, sandalwood with a hint of magnolia. Perfume journalist Chandler Burr awarded “Ambra di Venezia” four stars in his review for The New York Times’ T-Style Magazine: “It is angelic—the scent of comfort and joy” And is that not perfectly suggestive of a Mother’s touch?
Material & Nature’s vegan leather handbags and wallets are made from recycled plastic bottles, the ethical and fashionable choice for a stylish mom. These are effortlessly elegant paired with a breezy, hand printed cotton scarf.
We pride ourselves on representing the work of talented local jewelry designers and I am excited to have special in-store vendors at The Shop for Mother’s Day weekend:
Stop by on Saturday May 10 to meet Jody Lyons of Joli Jewelry, who designs jewelry inspired by her love of the styles of the 1920’s through the 1960’s, as well as a childhood fascination with her own mother’s jewelry box.
On Sunday May 11, browse Claudette Dunk’s beautiful jewelry, handcrafted with a magpie’s eye for beautiful, semiprecious stones and repurposed vintage materials. For the mom who prides herself on a gracious home, Jessica Hollander of India & Purry will also be in-store with her pretty decorative pillows, stationery, room ornaments and tiles.
